What is Internet Marketing and Who Can Do Affiliate Marketing?

What comes into our mind when we hear the word “Internet Marketing”? Some people might say that it’s buying and selling products in the internet or others might say “Oh, it’s an internet cafe business!” hehe
Well, basically Internet Marketing has a more profound and complex definition. It’s not limited to buy and sell only. “Internet Marketing is formed by a wide range of activities that companies, organizations and individuals use to: identify consumer needs online, deliver information through different media channels to that consumer, and satisfy the consumer needs by offering a product or service.”
There are actually many things involved in Internet Marketing, not just the usual buy and sell stuff. Some of these are Web Development, Search Engine Marketing, Search Engine Optimization, Pay-per-Click Advertising, Email Marketing, Online Market Research, Online Advertising, Social Media Marketing, Affiliate Marketing and etc.

Now moving on, what exactly is affiliate marketing and who are the qualified people to do the job?Affiliate Marketing is when a merchant or a seller is willing to let other people sell or promote his/her product or services in exchange for a commission. It’s basically selling/promoting other people’s product. And you, as the affiliate, get a piece of the action.
From the definition of the Affiliate Marketing, you might say something like “that sounds easy, maybe anyone can do it.” It does seems to be easy but in reality it’s not. Affiliate Marketing can be complex, you have to do a lot of research first and plan how you can sell or promote the product. Just imagine there are thousands of products out there but there are also thousands of thousands of affiliate promoting those products. You have to beat the competition, leverage yourself and standout from the rest.
If you are not familiar in using the internet then your not qualified. If you can’t even create your own email account in Yahoo or in Google then most probably you are not qualified. If you don’t know how to read and understand Terms of Service/Agreement of a company then you’re not qualified. Of course, a person can learn these stuff over time. I’m not saying that people who belong to some of my examples have no hope at all in doing Internet Marketing. They can try, but it might take a long time. Some people might give up along the way.
You might see in some other websites that offers guides, techniques or products that will help you earn thousands of dollar in a short period of time. Those products can really help you earn thousand of money. (Just to be clear I am talking about product from legit and known personalities in the internet) But you also have to do your part. Even if the technique or blueprint is 100% guaranteed to make you earn money, but you’re knowledge in the internet is limited or zero at all, then it might take you a long time to earn something or maybe nothing at all.
